Bad Omen is a horror-themed Golden Kamuy zine focusing on the eerie, uncanny, and horrific.
We aim to include a broad definition of horror, from weird fiction, to psychological horror, to supernatural; from slasher, to body horror, to splatterpunk.
The zine will include fic and art, with encouragement towards collaboration between writers and artists to create illustrated pieces that explore these themes with a wide range of Golden Kamuy characters.
Q: Is the zine SFW or NSFW?
A: The zine will be NSFW. Due to the horror theme, some works may contain gore, violence, and other dark themes. Nudity and sexual situations will also be allowed to feature in pieces. The zine will therefore only available to those 18+
Q: How many contributors are you looking for?
The number will depend largely on how many applications we receive. We hope to have a good balance of fic and art included in the zine, and to keep the numbers fairly equal. We will also be inviting a small number of contributors to participate. That being said, we're aiming to keep this a fairly small project.
Q: Will writers and artists be able to collaborate?
A: Yes. In fact artists and writers will be encouraged to collaborate, though collaboration is not required.
Q: Do applicants need any experience as an artist/writer to participate?
A: You will need examples of your work to apply with, but no previous experience creating specifically Golden Kamuy or horror themed pieces is required.
Q: Are ships allowed in the zine?
A: Yes. Though shipping is not the focus of the zine, ships will be allowed to feature in works at the mods' discretion, provided the horror themes take precedence.
Q: Are there any themes or elements that will not be allowed in the zine?
A: Pieces may not include children in sexual situations, or sexual violence against Ainu characters.
Q: Are AUs allowed or will all pieces need to be set in canon?
A: AUs are discouraged, but may be allowed on a case by case basis.
Q:What characters will be featured in the zine?
A: We aim to include a broad range of Golden Kamuy characters in the works.
Q: How old do i need to be to apply?
A: All contributors must be 18+
Q: Will this be a digital or physical zine?
A: This will be a digital zine.
Q: Will the zine be for charity or profit?
A: All proceeds from the zine will be donated to an Ainu Cultural Centre in Hokkaido. More details on this to follow. We aim to be 100% transparent with all financials.
